Why this site exists

Audio-to-MIDI tools often make a successful download look like a successful transcription. Those are different things. A valid MIDI file can still contain false attacks, octave jumps, merged notes, or timing that follows background noise instead of the performance.

AudioToMidiNow puts the converter first, keeps the workflow short, and explains what the result can and cannot represent. The aim is not to promise a finished arrangement. It is to produce a useful first draft that can be reviewed and corrected in a piano roll.

How the converter is designed

The converter runs in the browser. It decodes the selected audio locally, analyzes repeating wave periods, maps stable pitches to MIDI note numbers, and writes a standard MIDI file for download. The selected audio is not uploaded to AudioToMidiNow.

The current converter is intended for monophonic material: one clearly audible pitch at a time. Full mixes, chords, drums, heavy reverb, distortion, and overlapping instruments create ambiguity and usually require isolation or manual cleanup.

What the site publishes

Alongside the converter, AudioToMidiNow publishes practical guidance about choosing suitable source audio, recognizing common transcription errors, and repairing MIDI notes after conversion. The goal is to help users understand the result instead of treating automated detection as ground truth.
